Brooks Instrument Digital Mass Flow Controllers with EtherNet/IP or PROFINET Protocols Feature Web-based Interface

Embedded Web-based Interface Enables Easy Set up and Configuration of Mass Flow Controller Attributes
3/25/2020

How do you simplify set up and configuration of your digital mass flow controllers while also improving process control?

By using the rich data available from digital mass flow controllers (MFC) and meters (MFM) combined with the communication capabilities of Ethernet-based digital communication protocols, you can dramatically improve the integration, startup, maintenance and productivity of your process. Digital communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP and PROFINET deliver real-time, rich data to networks at ultra-fast speeds to programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) for enhanced process control.

To use that rich data, the MFCs have to first be setup and configured or told what to do. This can be a complex, time-consuming process, especially when performing this set up via your facility’s PLC or DCS. But much like setting up a router or any type of Ethernet device in your home, a digital mass flow controller enabled with an Ethernet-based communication protocol can also support a web interface to greatly simplify set up and save configuration profiles, and view diagnostic information to help you make better decisions about your process.

Now available with EtherNet/IP and PROFINET digital communication protocols, our industry-leading SLA5800 and SLAMf Series mass flow controllers (MFCs) and meters include a best-in-class web-based interface. The embedded web-based interface allows for easy set up and configuration of attributes using just a laptop and browser, making it a valuable resource in a variety of job functions and applications like research & development, process development and production.

After set up, choose from a number of advanced alarms and diagnostic functions to help you make critical decisions before you experience any system downtime.

Watch this 2-minute video (To view in full screen mode, simply click the YouTube icon after pressing play.) for a quick snapshot of the web-based interface:

  • Three Levels of Login Access – Ensures security of your process with three levels of access – Operational, Configure, and Control
  • Net Interface – Ability to change network properties such as IP Address, Network Mask, Gateway Address, and Host Name
  • Alarms and Diagnostics – Enable alarms and thresholds that are key to your process recipes and profiles
  • Device Status Panel – Monitor your process as you switch between screens
  • Dashboard – Preform basic troubleshooting with the Set Point, Valve Position, Temperature, and Flow Totalizer parameters.
Unlock the full potential of your MFCs to improve overall equipment effectiveness and flexibility by planning better for service times and reducing unproductive downtime.
